Maria’s testimony about the training course “First Thing First – for a Mental Health Perspective”, in Estonia.

In May a group of Italians participated in a training course called “First Thing First – for a Mental Health Perspective”, in Estonia.

This is the testimony of Maria Sardone who participated and shared with us her experience!

“It was a 10-day project open to many countries: Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain. The project aimed to discuss an essential aspect of our lives, mental health and well-being, but in a different and multicultural environment. A training course designed to enhance our understanding of mental health and equip us with practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. The forest setting provided a unique and serene environment for participants from various countries to delve into mental health topics. Through diverse activities, we were able to bond and deepen our connections, making the experience even more enriching.

The entire group was hosted in Setomaa Vald, in a wood house situated in the middle of a wonderful Estonian landscape. This location created a safe place to live in, just like a bubble. The facilitators were three very professional Estonian women, who guided them throughout the training. The activities they did went from team building activities and individual exercises to very practical techniques to help themselves and others. There were also more informal and funny moments such as intercultural nights and other planned moments. The hosting team was very welcoming.”
