FROM June 2022
TO May 2024
STATUS: Completed

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Between June 2022 and May 2024, Associazione Kora ran its first Erasmus+ accredited youth mobility project. Six international activities took place at La Buona Terra, the educational farm in Passignano sul Trasimeno (Umbria) where Kora is based: two training courses, three youth exchanges and an evaluation seminar.

The project was built on four pillars: climate and sustainability, linking the global fight against climate change to practical, everyday ways of living with a lower environmental impact; inclusion, opening non-formal learning to young people who have fewer chances to take part, whether because of where they live, their economic situation or their background; interculturality, lived, not only talking about diversity but experiencing it by living and working with peers from other countries; and quality non-formal education, sharing Kora’s experience and offering young people a path from participant to group leader, able to run activities on their own.

Part of Kora’s Erasmus+ accreditation 2020-1-IT03-KA150-YOU-000021127.

OBJECTIVES

In numbers

  • 155 people took part: 133 participants, 16 group leaders and 6 facilitators
  • 6 activities: 2 training courses, 3 youth exchanges and 1 evaluation seminar
  • 12 organisations from 10 countries: Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Romania and Spain
  • 74 participants with fewer opportunities, 48% of everyone involved
  • 56 people travelled green, 36% of the total

What came out of it

  • Leaders who led. 7 group leaders trained in LEAD UP! went on to lead their national groups in the youth exchanges.
  • Sustainability as daily practice. All activities were hosted at La Buona Terra, where sustainability was part of everyday life on the farm, not only a topic for discussion.
  • Reaching the local community. Participants ran workshops in the school of Passignano sul Trasimeno, joined a public event with the Mayor of Passignano and visited TAMAT, an association in Perugia.
  • New ideas. At the Evaluation Seminar, participants developed four new youth-exchange ideas: Craftitional, on keeping traditional arts and crafts alive across generations; H.E.L.P. (hike, explore, learn, protect), on reconnecting young people with nature; Let’s make a circus of life, on circus arts, theatre and dance for self-expression; and L.I.S.T.E.N. (Love, Intuition, Self-awareness, Together, Empathy, Nurturing), a safe space to talk about mental health.
  • Tools for leaders. The reflection tools used every day by group leaders (the hand, leaves of learning, circle of life, blob tree, abstract mirror and geometrical thinking) were collected in a guide.
  • Positive feedback. In the six evaluation questionnaires (134 responses), the average overall score per activity ranged from 7.6 to 9.2 out of 10.
