Common Thyme(Thymus vulgaris) is native to the Mediterranean and neighboring countries. People have used thyme for many centuries as a flavoring agent, culinary herb, and herbal medicine. The plant can be used fresh at any time of the year, or it can be harvested as it comes into flower and either be distilled for the oil or dried for later use The essential oil is one of the most important oils used in aromatherapy. Applied to the skin, thyme is reported to relieve bites and stings.
