Associazione Kora was founded in August 2015 to promote environmental, intercultural and social awareness through projects for young people. Kora coordinates non-formal education projects with Erasmus + and with the European Solidarity Corps, such as training courses, youth exchanges and volunteering projects on the topics of environmental sustainability, interculturality and social equality.
It is based on La Buona Terra school farm, the first educational farm in Italy, with over 30 years of experience in working with children, young people and adults of all ages. La Buona Terra produces organic olive oil, essential oils of various aromatic herbs, and offers environmental education for groups of all ages.

The volunteers will support Kora in the following tasks:

    • Gardening and agriculture: preparation of the olive picking process, restoring olive trees field, pruning and picking olives, cutting wood for the winter, experiencing, learning and promoting self-production of food as a mean for sustainable living
    • Social agriculture: supporting a group of people with mental disabilities
    • Common cooking
    • Non formal education activities about environmental topics, interculturality and social equality.

Support:

Food and accommodation will be covered by the European Commission; the volunteers will have health insurance and pocket money (6 euro per day).

Volunteers will cook in shifts and eat together or eat in the association canteen. We support different diets and promote the use of local and sustainable products as much as possible. Please be aware that we do eat animal products and work with animals on the farm.
We try to source as many products as possible, within our budget, through partnerships with local farmers and shops.
If you follow specific diets, please be aware that it might be your responsibility to take care of your own dietary requirements (i.e. cooking or complementing meals if needed), especially when there are no groups hosted on the farm.

Accommodation will be in tiny wooden houses on the farm premises, shared with 1 or 3 other volunteers. Travel expenses will be refunded up until a fixed amount  (180 € from 100 to 499 km distance calculated in a straight line from the sending organisation’s city, 275 € from 500 km to 1999 km, 360 € from 2000 km to 2999 km; 530 € from 3000 to 3999 km; if volunteers travel without flying, so only using buses, trains, boat, carpooling etc, they have the right to a higher budget: 210 € from 100 to 499 km distance; 320 € from 500 km to 1999 km; 410 € from 2000 km to 2999 km; 610 € from 3000 to 3999 km).

Working hours are from 8 am to 1 pm.

Criteria:

  • Available for the whole duration of the project
  • 18-30 years old
  • Resident in EU member country or Ukraine
