ESC VOLUNTEERING TEAM ON ECO-CONSTRUCTION IN PORTUGAL

Quinta Das Relvas is looking for volunteers living in Europe who will carry out activities related to environmental sustainability in the frame of a European Solidarity Corps volunteering team.
Quinta Das Relvas is a Portuguese association that manages a farm and promotes non-formal activities focused on art and eco-sustainability, such as permaculture, eco-construction and environmental awareness.

When: Branca, Portugal
When: from September 11th to October 25th 2023 (travel days excluded)

Activities:

Volunteers will support the staff members in the following activities:

• Eco-construction
• Gardening
• Orchard
• Maintenance
• Cooking

One or two volunteers will also take care of the communication aspect (photos, videos, social media).

All volunteers will also have an introduction to permaculture. They will work 7 hours a day for 5 days a week, with weekends free and 3 additional days of holidays in total.

Logistics:
Volunteers will be accommodated in a house near the farm, sharing dorms with other volunteers.

Food, accommodation, pocket money (5 euros a day), health insurance, tutoring and mentoring are covered by the programme. Travel expenses will be refunded up until a fixed amount (180 € from 100 to 499 km distance, 275 € from 500 km to 1999 km, 360 € if more: budget is higher if travel is not by plane).

Volunteers will take shifts to cook their own meals for the team (around 12-15 people). In some periods Quinta will also host artistic residencies of young international artists, that will take care of their logistic aspects autonomously.

Criteria:

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

• Available for the entire duration of the project
• 18-30 years old
• Living in EU member countries, Portugal included, Ukraine or Georgia
• Interest/experience in environmental sustainability, eco-construction, gardening, permaculture, communication…
• Ready to live in a rural and intercultural context with around 20 other people
• Basic level of English.
