FROM TURKEY TO ITALY: CENGIZ’S EXPERIENCE
Cengiz took part as a volunteer in the 2-month European Solidarity Corps/EVS project “An Earthquake of Solidarity”, coordinated by Associazione Kora in Norcia, Italy, from 18 February to 24 April 2019. The project involved 12 volunteers from different European countries, that supported the local population after the earthquake. The volunteers organised English sessions, made outdoor, intercultural and theatre activities with kids, kept company to disabled people and participated in local traditional events.
This is his story!
Hello, I’m Cengiz. I studied interior design and graduated this year.
I did what I wanted to do for a long time. I was a volunteer in Norcia/ITALY! I wanted to be part of this project to help the people of Norcia as much as I can. I also really like to discover new cultures and new languages, this project was the perfect opportunity to do so.

During the project, we taught English to children. We spent a long time with the local people and shared nice things.
The most important thing for me was spending time with people with disabilities and playing games with them.
I went to many places in Italy. It was very nice to visit Rome, Florence, and Perugia.
I went back to Turkey with so much beauty. I discovered a new culture, a new language, beautiful friendships and the smile of the people of Norcia whose life I touched.
