ABOUT THE PROJECT

Kora works with young people in a small rural town. With this project we wanted to keep bringing young people from rural and marginalised backgrounds into contact with young people from across Europe and beyond, and to give youth workers better tools to support them.

It pursued the four objectives of Kora’s Erasmus+ accreditation: environmental awareness, inclusiveness, multiculturalism and quality non-formal education. One training course prepared the young leaders; they then designed and led four youth exchanges; a second training course closed the cycle by looking at the places where we learn.

OBJECTIVES

In numbers

  • 167 participants, plus 25 Group Leaders and 7 trainers and facilitators: 199 people in total
  • 26 organisations from 18 countries, including for the first time three countries outside the Erasmus+ programme: Albania, Morocco and Montenegro
  • 84 participants (50.3%) were young people with fewer opportunities
  • 71 people travelled by train, bus or carpooling, against the 50 planned
  • Satisfaction of 8.8 to 9.4 out of 10 in every activity; every participant received a Youthpass

What changed

  • 17 participants of Take the Lead came back as Group Leaders in the youth exchanges, and 3 as facilitators or support staff.
  • 41 of 54 youth workers report more sustainable habits; participants took home the three-bucket water system, composting, fermentation, permaculture and the CO2 calculator.
  • Group Leaders say participants better understand diversity (24 of 25) and became more confident (23 of 25).
  • Every youth exchange opened to Passignano with a public event, up to a solstice evening with about 150 visitors.
  • The project led to a new Erasmus+ cooperation partnership (KA220) with BreGal (Spain) and Dreaming OPEnly (Germany), on a live roleplay game about sustainability (2025 to 2027).
