A non-profit founded in 2015 on an educational farm near Lake Trasimeno, working on sustainability, self-produced food, social inclusion and international youth mobility.
About Kora
Associazione Kora is a non-profit association founded in 2015 and based at the educational farm La Buona Terra in Passignano sul Trasimeno. Its mission is to promote social and cultural awareness among young people through outdoor life, sustainability, healthy food and intercultural exchange, with seasonal food growing, eco-friendly technologies such as eco-building and rainwater harvesting, and lifelong learning.
Kora works above all with young people aged 15 to 30, paying particular attention to those facing fewer opportunities. Umbria offers its young people few international opportunities, and Kora works to fill this gap through youth exchanges, training courses, learning camps and volunteering projects.
What volunteers do
Within the European Solidarity Corps, Kora hosts and supports volunteers in three settings, built around the learning process so volunteers can follow it from beginning to end.
- Farm and garden: manual work in agriculture and maintenance, tending the garden, building fences, and whatever the season asks for.
- Kitchen: cooking sustainable meals for the groups hosted on the farm, leading workshops on sustainable cooking and intercultural food traditions, making preserves for the winter.
- Project management and communication: supporting the logistics of the projects hosted on the farm, co-facilitating non-formal education sessions, creating content for social media and the website.
Volunteers also organise workshops and events on sustainability and interculturality with local young people, and document the life of the farm through photos and videos. Both long-term and short-term placements are hosted here; short-term placements are available on demand.
Learning and support
Every volunteer is accompanied by a mentor and reflects on their learning through Youthpass. Along the way, volunteers learn Italian, discover the local culture and develop skills in communication, event organisation, teamwork and active citizenship.
