CALL FOR ESC VOLUNTEERS IN SOCIAL ACTIVITIES WITH PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

  • When? From June 2025 to February 2026

Activities

  • Artistic workshops (ceramics, music, theatre…)
  • Sports
  • Agriculture and gardening
  • Recreational activities (games, walks, visits…)
  • Daily life activities (watching a film, having a chat, playing cards…)

Volunteers will work 35 hours per week on assigned tasks, with two consecutive free days per week (not necessarily Saturday and Sunday). These hours include monthly meetings and the possibility of individual interviews, meetings with the mentor, that evaluates the volunteers’ project, satisfaction and learning process. Volunteers will also attend an Italian language course held by local volunteers for 2 hours a week.


Criteria

  • 18-30 years old citizens living in EU member countries or Ukraine
  • Available for the whole duration of the project
  • Careful and respectful towards people with disabilities
  • In order to protect the people with disabilities hosted in the structure, volunteers must be already vaccinated for COVID-19
  • Ready to live in an intercultural context in a suburban area
  • Basic level in English
  • Eager to learn Italian to communicate with people with disabilities
  • Past experiences with people with disabilities and related studies (psychology, sociology…) are welcome but not necessary
  • For the specific nature of the project, and in order to keep the people with disabilities safe, volunteers must not have mental health issues, infectious diseases or criminal records. We will ask for a health certificate and criminal records.

Logistics and support

  • Food will be bought by volunteers with a food allowance of 6 euros per day, given monthly, and cooked autonomously in their house kitchen
  • Accommodation will be in one of the houses of the Community, in single rooms shared with other volunteers of the same gender. The house is equipped with kitchen, bathrooms, toilets, wi-fi, and washing machine
  • Pocket money of 6 euros per day, given monthly
  • Health insurance (www.henner.com)
  • Travel expenses will be refunded up until a fixed amount (211 € from 100 to 499 km distance, 309 € from 500 km to 1999 km, 395 € if more; the budget is higher if more than half of the itinerary is made by sustainable means of transport: train, bus or carpooling).

Hosting organisation

The project is hosted by Associazione L’Arca Il Chicco ETS, an Italian nonprofit organisation focused on supporting people with disabilities and promoting social inclusion. It offers various services, including educational and recreational activities, to help individuals develop their potential and integrate into society.
